The more detailed of the two guides, Marcus' ebook was the second of these two that I purchased. It truly left no stone unturned and everything is extremely easy to understand. I used it to fill in on some of the specifics I still wanted, such as breeding. The depth blew me away, and some of the bonuses were quite fun for you and your fish!
Bottom Line: If you want specifics on things like successfully breeding Betta fish or curing Betta illnesses, this is the step-by-step guide for you. If at first considered pricey, it should be said that this guide encompasses more pages than most physical care guides of similar or greater price.

I'm hesitant to say this guide is not as "in-depth" of a Betta care guide, because it still packs an incredible punch of value for it's price. Betta care made easy still has step by step chapters on topics such as breeding, but in my opinion is best suited towards beginners.
It was my first guide and was definitely enough to put me on the right path with learning how to take care of a Betta fish and I don't want the low price tag to fool you.
Bottom line: A great guide for beginner and intermediate caregivers alike, even if the Betta Lover's Guide is the "advanced" guide, this is surely its informative "beginners" type counterpart, encompassing in detail all general aspects of Betta care.

Has been a round for a little longer meaning more time since launch for updates.

The Story Behind Why I Made This Site...

He'd been crying the entire night. "He's sick dad he's sick, he's gonna die!" I tried to console my son in any way possible as we watched his new pet flit around weakly in its tank.
Honestly, I knew better. Maybe he wasn't ready for his own pet (though he assured me that he had read up on all of the responsibilities involved). He'd been a great kid and I knew he wanted nothing more than a pet fish for his birthday. I considered myself lucky, he wasn't asking for a ferret or a bearded dragon, he just wanted a Betta fish.
I wasn't going to let his new pet die, weren't we supposed to be "rescuing" it from the pet store? And so I went online and bought a guide to help us learn how to take care of a Betta fish. It wasn't too expensive and right away we were able to spot both things we had done wrong, and things we had yet to do at all. Things like cycling a tank, dietary needs, and even how to breed betta fish (though I wouldn't need this section for a while), were all explained in greater detail and clarity than I had found in any free resource in my hours of online searching. Learning how to take care of a Betta fish instantly became less complicated and less difficult.
This was all just over two years ago... Today, that same fish (Gilbert, as he is named), still lives with me. I myself write for my work, and so I always appreciate this wonderful little guy hanging out with me on my desk while I type away. With all of that time together, and my son becoming more and more busy, I guess I've sort of adopted him as my own; the little guy just grew on me. Even as Betta fish middle to old age, he is happy and healthy (by the way, it seems many people have found that with proper care you can blow the average 2-3 "expectancy" out of the water).
